Cooking Club
We have been learning about healthy eating! In our cooking club, we learned about the different food groups and why healthy eating is so important for our bodies and our brains. We have worked with our parents to make some delicious meals that we can now make at home for all the family. With some encouragement, we tried lots of new and different foods that were tasty and full of goodness. Although we sometimes don’t like trying new foods, we have all been really brave and our parents and Katie are really proud of us. We will carrying on trying new foods at home now and always try to remember the importance of healthy eating.
Here we are showing off our cooking skills, making all the wonderful dishes like healthy fish and chips, vegetable couscous, vegetable wraps, scone based pizzas and a healthy breakfast.
We are so proud of ourselves!

Science Club at The Trinity School
Art Club (Parent and Child Art Sessions with professional artist Julie Turner )
Session 1: We made patterns with cut out foam leaves on plain white cotton. We then drew around the leaves and used bright fabric paints to create some bold textile pieces.
Session 2: We used air-drying clay to make a leaf shape. We then made something (anything we thought would look good) to go on our leaf. We used “slip” (a mixture of clay and water) to ensure the joins we made in the clay were strong and we thought about shape and texture as we were modelling. Session 3: We painted our clay models using plenty of ready mixed paint, ensuring that we covered all the sides of the model. When dry, the models were covered with a shiny water resistant varnish to strengthen them and enhance the colours. |

Session 4: We used oil pastels and wax candles to draw trees and filled these in with a variety of different lines and shapes. We washed over our pictures with textile dyes using large brushes and watched the wax resist the dye. We also cut out tree silhouettes to contrast with the colourful finished pieces.
Session 5: We made printing blocks by drawing in pieces of polystyrene. We then used water based printing inks in trays and used rollers to roll the ink over the blocks to make a print. We experimented with different blocks, colours and papers.
Session 6: We made wool wraps. We started with a piece of foam board with a sticky back. We slowly peeled off the backing and wrapped coloured wools around the board ‘choosing our colours and the pattern they made. We then used felt or funky foam to add further design.

Outdoor/Adventurous Club

Miss Gubas’ Outdoor/Adventurous Club enjoyed its final session at the Nottingham Climbing Centre. The children all challenged themselves to climb higher than they had first anticipated.
It was a bit scary at first but once I got used to it, I had such good fun! I’d love to go again! (Bethan Y3)

Fencing

Twelve children from Years 5 and 6 had the opportunity to join an after school fencing club with a coach from Swashbucklers. They have taken on different roles within the group and are all very enthusiastic.
I really enjoy the games we play and the battles we have against each other.

Cheerleading

A Cheerleading club was set up last half term, run by Miss Binch. Twenty five children from Years 3, 4 and 5 have benefited from this club and have given positive feedback.
