Our F1 Work
World Book Day
Here are the children dressed up as their favourite book character.
Retelling Stories
During the spring term, F1 have been focussing on traditional tales. Here are the children retelling the story of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ by using story aids.
Mr Tongue
In the Foundation stage the children develop their mouth muscles by copying mouth actions and sounds in the story of Mr Tongue. Mr Tongue is a story that includes a set of exercises for lips, tongue and mouth. The story helps the children become aware of the different parts of their mouth including their teeth, tongue and lips. It also helps them to develop the movements needed for speech. Literacy Stay and Play
During the Autumn term, F1 held four literacy Stay and Play sessions for parents. The parents were given a chance to spend time with their children within the setting, observing the class teacher carry out a reading session. The main aim of the session was to equip the parents with skills and strategies to aid their child’s early reading development. During the session, the teacher and TA had an opportunity to share children’s progression and learning with parents/carers. At the end of the session, the N2 children received their ‘Bookstart’ reading packs, along with their F1 reading book.
