Forest School 2016
Forest School 2015
A group of nine children from Year 3 to Year 5 attended the Forest School at Bestwood Country Park on a Friday afternoon for 5 weeks.
The programme is designed to:
• Increase learner’s confidence, independence and initiative
• Provide a supportive learning environment to suit individual’s needs and learning styles
• Increase individual appreciation and understanding of the natural world
• Build and develop group work and co-operation skills
The children thoroughly enjoyed activities such as den building, making wooden mallets, cooking sweet bread on the camp fire and using the mud kitchen.
The children’s favourite activities were playing hide and seek in the woods which involved leaving arrows using natural materials for the other children to follow and getting messy in the mud kitchen.
“We loved exploring the woods, making fires and sawing logs. We loved basically everything!”
“It was great to get messy in the muddy kitchen!”
