International School Award
We recently received this message in recognition of our continued work towards the International School Award:
Many congratulations again on your well deserved success in the British Council International School Award. |

Throughout the previous academic year we had been working towards achieving the International School Award. Our application was successfully submitted in December 2010. The whole school community has benefited from the international learning activities. Led by Mrs Stawiarska and Mrs North, staff have worked as a team to engage the children and have been enthused by learning alongside the children.
Children have developed a greater intercultural understanding through effective cross curricular links. The children have fully embraced the different project areas and have been keen to find out more. First hand communication with children from other countries has brought the learning to life. Such contact has allowed the children to develop friendships, which have fueled their desire to learn more about them and their respective lifestyles and cultures. The international learning activities have enabled children and their parents to feel part of a wider, global community.
As a result of hard work throughout the year September (2011) we gained the
British Council's full International School Award which recognizes our school's outstanding work in international education. The good work still continues...

Polish Club
The Polish Club is proving to be a very successful project run by Mrs. Stawiarska. Children have successfully used ICT to communicate with their Polish friends.
Dates have already been arranged for future Skype sessions and projects with our Polish link school.
The Polish club is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop greater understanding of a different culture, and enables the children of Polish heritage to not only communicate in their own language, but to celebrate their cultural background.
St. Mary’s staff are keen to further develop this link and to continue to expand the school’s global dimensions.
