Mrs North has been awarded funding from the British Council to take part in a week’s intensive Spanish training. She will spend February half term at the Instituto Malaca in Malaga along with other teachers from across England.
Before Christmas, Cafod received this gift from one of our families on behalf of the school in appreciation for `the education of their children and for teaching us to love others and share gifts.`
The gift will pay for the running cost of a life-saving clinic in a remote community. Allowing vulnerable people easier access to vital healthcare, this essential facility can make a BIG difference and save many lives. Thank you.
This term we will be studying the three themes of Local Church, Eucharist and Lent/Easter. Each class will approach the themes through different topics which will lead into our Lenten preparations. Lent is a special time when we celebrate the example of self-giving shown to us by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Our children are very good at helping others and putting someone else first.
This half term, our school curriculum focus is history. Y5 & Y6 are studying the Tudors, Y3 & Y4 will be exploring Ancient Egypt, Y2 & Y1 are focusing on Florence Nightingale and the Foundation Stage children are looking at Traditional tales. The topics will be enriched through relevant visits including Wollaton Hall, the Castle Museum, Patchings Arts Centre and Partake. In addition Y1 & Y2 have a variety of artefacts/costumes on loan to make their topic come alive. Staff and children are looking forward to these exciting topics.
Applications for a school place in the Reception class next year must be made before 15th January 2014. You must apply on both the Nottingham City Council Orange Admission form and the Catholic Schools’ Yellow Supplementary form. Please return both forms either to school or the Admissions Department at Loxley House before the closing date. Please ensure your application contains the necessary evidence to support your request. Last year we had over 100 applications for the 30 places available so it is very important to have your form in on time!
