Healthy Eating School

4/4/2014

This term we have been making steps towards improving the life style choices of the children at St. Mary’s.  Last half term a member of the LA dietician team carried out an audit of the content of the children’s lunchboxes. This information was analysed and presented to the School Council who devised an action plan, with their suggested ideas for a healthy lunchbox. The dietician met with representatives of the School Council, a parent governor and member of the non-teaching staff to review and update our ‘Healthy Eating Policy’ and ‘Packed Lunch Policy’. Next term we will be sharing the revised policies with the Governors and parents and hope to implement changes by the beginning of the new school year.

Congratulations to 117 of our children who had 98% attendance or above this term - this is a tremendous achievement! They all received a small Easter egg as an award.  The 78 children who had attendance of 99% or above had the additional chance to win a skating voucher and an Easter egg. Well done to all the lucky winners! Our attendance has improved and I thank you all for supporting us to meet our target.
