Thank you to all our parents and carers who signed the objection petition regarding the proposed residents’ parking scheme. I would also like to thank those who wrote to the council directly with their own objections. Sadly, if this scheme is successful it will have huge implications for our parents and carers who travel to school by car but also for our children who receive support from outside agencies. The community at Scothome Primary School, Fr. David and the parishioners of St Mary’s contributed greatly to the objection. I will keep you posted once I hear anything more.
Weather permitting, Sports day will take place on Friday 6th July for F2-Y6.
The KS1 (F2, Y1 and Y2) events will begin at 9:30am and KS2 (Y3-Y6) events will begin at 1:30pm.
Foundation 1 & 2 have planned a separate fun day on Wednesday 11th July.
I would like to thank you all for your generosity towards our Book Aid project on World Book Day. Our fantastic amount of £170 will help children and adults to read and learn, from all walks of life, in the poorer parts of the world.
On behalf of the First Holy Communion children and the Catechists, we would like to invite you to join them on this very special occasion. The dates are as follows:
Well done to our KS2 children for reaching the final of the Nottingham City Road Safety Quiz. Eight children represented our school brilliantly last night. St Mary’s came 7th out of all the Nottingham City primary schools.
As the weather appears to be changing, please send your child to school with a sun hat and sun cream (with their name on). Please apply sun cream on exposed skin before school each morning as children are out for a long time at break and lunch time.
I would like to thank Miss Smith for increasing her hours and for moving to Year 4 in November. From the week commencing 14th May, Miss Smith will return to teaching for three days (Monday – Wednesday) and Mrs Caine, who we welcome back from maternity leave, will teach Year 4 on a Thursday and Friday.
Well done to the children and staff in Years 2 and 6 who have worked very hard all year to prepare for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 1 SATs, which will begin on Monday 14th May. The rest of the classes will be completing the normal end of year assessments in June and the annual reports will inform parents about progress and attainment.
