Please note that the INSET day this term is on Friday 6th October. The school will be closed on this day.
Appointment letters will be sent out next week. Please return your slip so your child’s class teacher can arrange an appointment for you.
The Year 5 pupils who attended the Music Camp at Ilam Hall had a wonderful time. They made friends with children from other schools and were involved in a range of indoor and outdoor music activities, team games and walks.
First Holy Communion preparation will soon be starting. If your child is in Y3, or older, and you would like them to receive this special sacrament, please collect a letter from Fr. David after Mass. Completed forms need to be returned to Fr. David by 8th October at the latest.
Bishop Patrick McKinney will be celebrating Mass with Fr. David at all the Masses in the Parish on the weekend of 7th and 8th October. It would be lovely if as many of our families as possible could celebrate with the parishioners that weekend. Mass times are as follows:
St Paul’s – Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 9.30am
St Mary’s – Sunday at 11am
The wearing of earrings are posing a slight problem in school. Our school welcome pack states that earrings are not permitted but I am aware that some children have recently had their ears pierced so that proves difficult to adhere to. I ask if children have to wear earrings, they only wear a small, simple stud and are not worn on P.E. days due to safety reasons. Hoops and other styles of earring are not permitted at any time. If you plan to have your child’s ears pierced, please do so at the start of the summer holidays so they are able to participate in P.E. sessions once we return to school in September.
We ask children to bring their P.E. kit into school on a Monday and for it to remain in school all week. P.E. shorts, t-shirt and a bag can be purchased from the school office for £7. Our school P.E. kit is as follows:
White t-shirt, navy shorts/navy tracksuit bottoms and plimsolls - preferably trainers in KS2.
I would like to extend my thanks to the F2 parents who attended Mrs Mullen’s and Mrs Harrison’s phonics/reading and maths workshops. It’s great to have such supportive parents and carers who are willing to work with us to help our children on their school journey.
I would like to thank the parents and carers for the tremendous turnout for the Relationship and Sex Education meeting last week. Your presence, questions and feedback was greatly appreciated and helps us to implement and shape the delivery of the programme as sensitively and informatively as we can. It is very important that we work together on topics such as these and the staff and I are pleased we have your support.
“A difficult and important subject dealt with in a reassuring and sensitive way, delivered with clarity.” (Y5 parent)
