Thanks to all the children, parents and staff who have continued to work hard on our drive to improve attendance in school. We are thrilled to inform you that 77 children have had an attendance rate of 99% or above this term. This is a great achievement considering the flu virus that is going around. These children were given a small treat during assembly today.
Well done to children and staff for a wonderful term. We are very proud of the excellent work and outstanding behaviour shown by the children over this busy time of year. They are especially to be congratulated on the high standard of all the Christmas celebrations. They enjoyed their disco and pantomime production earlier this week – both well-deserved treats. Thank you for your generous donation of £430.66 collected after all these performances. This will provide many hot dinners for the people who visit the soup kitchen at St Paul’s every day.
The school will be closed on Friday 20th December for a staff INSET day.
The school will re-open after the Christmas holiday on Monday 6th January 2014.
A Christingle Service will be held on Wednesday 18th December at 6:00pm at St. Stephen’s with St. Paul’s Church on Bobbersmill Road, Hyson Green. Parents/Carers and children are very welcome to this celebration. St Mary’s children will open this celebration with one of their Christmas songs.
All the children at St Mary’s have worked extremely hard this term and their behaviour has been absolutely fantastic. To say thank you to the children this Christmas we gave them a very special treat! We had lots of fun with the Hurricane Theatre Company and their performance of Aladdin.
The School Council has organised a School Disco from monies raised at our Christmas Bazaar. This is a thank you for all the good behaviour and hard work throughout this term. It will be a non uniform day so wear your disco clothes please!
Infants: 1:30 - 2:30pm
Juniors: 3:00pm - 4:00 pm
Thank you from the School Council.
Our end of term assessments are indeed very pleasing and the children should be congratulated for their hard work and excellent behaviour. To reward the children, we have organised a Christmas disco and a pantomime production of ‘Aladdin’ for the last week. Our Foundation 1 children have their own party day next Wednesday.
Our reflective day, on 6th December, enabled children and staff to focus on our spiritual journey during the season of Advent and to prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. The day ended with a wonderful celebration of the Mass which was prepared by all classes throughout the day. Thank you to Mrs Carberry and Ms O’Neill for leading this special day.
Congratulations to the school basketball team who played with great skill and determination yesterday when they took part in the Nottingham City Basketball Finals. Nick Robb, from School Sport Nottingham, was particularly impressed and commented on how skillful the team were. He added that he had never seen such talent in primary school basketball. They won every match they played and went on to reclaim their position at the top as City Champions. They will now go on to represent the city at the County Finals in July
