We did it again! We are pleased to announce that once again we have been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award which is the government recognised kitemark for excellence in PE and competitive school sport. We took part in an abundance of inter-school competitions last year as well as many intra-school events. In addition to these, there were a vast number of after school clubs on offer.
We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award which is the government recognised kitemark for excellence in PE and competitive school sport. Out of 33 schools in Nottingham who achieved the award, St Mary’s was one of only five schools that achieved the Gold Mark.
‘This is a tremendous achievement by our schools and is a reflection of the outstanding provision and participation in PE and school sport that is on offer to young people in Nottingham’. (Nick Robb – School Sport Nottingham)
Thank you to Mrs North for her continued hard work and commitment in achieving this wonderful award.
We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded the Drug Aware Award Standard for Excellence in Early Intervention Practice for Drugs and Alcohol awareness throughout the school. It is important that children today have an age appropriate awareness of safe drugs and harmful drugs and the effect that they have on the body. I would like to thank Mrs Hodgkinson for overseeing this work throughout the school.
We are very proud of all the children at St Mary’s and their successes over the past year. It is always difficult to select a small group from so many wonderful children and this has been particularly hard this year. This year, the seven children who have been awarded for their achievements during their time at St Mary’s are:
• Spelling: Michelle Prusaczyk-Bengowski Y6
• Perseverance: Dominik Chmiel Y5
• Martin Stiegler: Mateusz Matuszewski Y2
• Aidan Garvin Football: Mossimo Chinyama Y6
• Outstanding Sporting Achievement: Abdullah Fadhil Y6
• Outstanding Pupil Award: Zara Shoaib Y6
• Handwriting: Molly Tinney Y6
