Congratulations to our KS2 dance group who competed in the East Midlands heats of the ‘Great Big Dance Off’ National Finals, at the Albert Hall in Nottingham. They were amongst 21 primary schools competing and did very well to finish in 4th place. They are one of four schools who will be heading to Oxford later in the year to represent the East Midlands in the final.
Earlier this month, a group of 13 children took part in the City Dance Showcase at the Ellis Guilford School. This was a fantastic event where 12 different schools showcased some very impressive routines. Our group did exceptionally well, performing a contemporary dance routine which was choreographed by Miss Binch (our dance specialist). At the end of the evening, it was announced that St Mary’s had finished in 1st place and that they would go on to represent Nottingham City in the Nottinghamshire School Games Finals in February. A fantastic achievement!
Thank you to parents for encouraging their children to use the Beat Boxes around the city and for those of you who have also registered yourselves. Please note that two different boxes must be tapped within an hour in order to collect points. The Leaders board can be viewed online.
After taking part in the Great Big Dance Off at The Albert Hall last week, we are delighted to announce that our Y5/6 dance group have secured a place in the National Finals which will take place in Birmingham in July.
Well done to the children in Year 3 and Year 4 who took part in the Sportshall Athletics Competition at the Trinity School this week. They worked really hard and, with fantastic team spirit, managed to finish in 6th place overall.
