Jubilee of Mercy Mass

The Jubilee of Mercy Mass, celebrated by Bishop Patrick McKinney, took place today in Nottingham.  St Barnabas Cathedral looked amazing and we were joined by many schools from the diocese who came together to celebrate the Year of Mercy.  Tom Baptist led the uplifting music and spiritual songs and we were very grateful that we were able to attend this special event.

Although the Year of Mercy is coming to an end, the service helped us to remember that our acts of love and kindness must continue.  The Bishop’s message was to ensure we don’t do kind things from fear of hell or hope of heaven, but instead, to continue our acts of love, mercy and kindness by seeing from our hearts.  We intend to let our hearts shine and see with our hearts!

First Communion 2015

Congratulations to all our First Communicants!

Bazaar

Thank you very much to everyone who helped at the Parish Bazaar last weekend.  The event ran very successfully and raised £1752.94 for parish funds.  This is a marvellous amount.

I especially thank the School Council, who made the wonderful sum of £267 on their stall.  Together with the sponsored walk, they have now raised approximately £1348.00 to go towards their ‘Sun Shade Project’.  Next term, they hope to organise a meeting with a structural engineer to seek advice on the most suitable structure for the chosen area.

St Barnabas Trust Mass

On the 11th June, St Barnabas Trust celebrated its first feast day Mass at Nottingham Cathedral with Fr Andrew Cole.  St Mary's, St Teresa's, Our Lady's and St Augustine's all brought their Year 6 classes and Trinity brought all of Year 7.  Every school contributed something special to the Mass and it was lovely to see the Cathedral so full of young people celebrating their faith. We look forward to many more Trust Masses to come!
