Religious Education

Judaism

During other faith week, children across school learnt about different aspects of the Jewish faith. Reverend Ken visited St. Mary’s to support each class’s work about Judaism.

F1 created handprint menorahs, Year 1 acted out Moses pleading with the Pharoah to let his people go, Year 2 baked and shared bread, and Year 3 learned about the importance of key Jewish objects and symbols.

Hinduism

Children throughout school learnt about the Hindu faith.

Frances, our chaplain, led Year 2 in a retreat, learning about the story of Diwali; the themes of light and hope and the link to the Catholic faith; and children discussed Hindus having one God with lots of different sides to him depending on what you need and want to pray for at the time.

Sikhism

The children in Years 2, 3, 4 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Sikh Temple. The children and staff were made very welcome and it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore and understand another faith and visit their place of worship.
