School Council Latest News

The School Council play a very important role in school, listening to what the children want and making important decisions and improvements in school as well as planning and organising fundraising events.

Film Night

The School Council went around the classes and asked the children how they would like to raise money for Christmas. We voted for a film night and watched ‘Home Alone’. It was a great success. The money we raised will go towards our school sun shelter, providing us with shade during the summer.

Future Fund Raising

Our next fund raising event will be an Easter Egg Raffle, and all money raised will go towards the Sun shelter.
We have had a visit from some companies giving us quotes for our shelter and we are hoping to have made a decision on this soon.

This term, our School Council has been very active in its role. One of the main points raised so far has been about school lunches. The children in each class were trying to come up with new ideas to ensure they always get their preferred choice of food. As a result of this feedback, we will be testing a new system to make sure it is fair for each child.

Other matters discussed included questions about what the children want from our new Head Teacher.

Over the coming year, the School Council will continue to arrange fun and exciting activities to help raise more money for our “keep in the shade" campaign. The children will meet with the Governors to show them their proposals.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers

Film Night

On the 30th November, we had a great film night that proved to be very popular with the children. Most children in the school managed to attend the showing of The Polar Express.  They also enjoyed treats of popcorn and juice, served by our lovely ‘ushers’ and ‘usherettes’!

It raised £324, which will go towards the playground shelter fund.

Christmas Raffle

There was enormous excitement as the ticket was drawn for the first prize of £100. We are pleased to say it raised £472, which will also go towards the playground shelter.

Sainsburys School Vouchers

Many thanks to all the children who collected the Sainsbury´s school vouchers.  We have used them to stock up on some of our playground toys and games.

The children voted to watch The Minions Movie. During the film the children feasted on popcorn and juice. Everyone really enjoyed, it was so successful we look forward to repeating it in the future.

The money raised will go towards building sun shelters for our playground.

The weather was great and everyone had so much fun. We had a fantastic response from parents and carers who can along to support us.

Developing the KS2 Playground

Children in Key Stage 2 decided they would like the grassed area of the playground developed into a more useful space.

The School Council discussed children's ideas and consulted with different companies to see what could be done with the area.

After much thought, they decided that an outdoor classroom and a stage area should be built.

Robin Hood and the Lord Mayor and Mayoress came to an official opening of the new facilities in the summer term.
