Our Y2 Work

Working on the iPads

On Wednesday July 12th, Year 2 made movies on the iPads. Before the lesson they had worked in groups to write a script for the traditional tale, ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’. They then made puppets of the characters and backgrounds for the settings. Using the I Pads, they then put it all together with photographs and voice recordings. It was a great success and the children had a fantastic morning.

Year 2 has been using the Book Creator app to make books about Florence Nightingale on the iPads.

Our Year 1 Work...

Beebots

In Year 1, we enhanced our learning about directions and coding by using the Beebots.  We had to be really clever and give the bee the correct instructions to get to different places in the room!  Sometimes we made little mistakes so we needed to rethink and give the bee a new code to reach the correct destination. We had to travel through the pictures in the correct order to tell the story of the Great Fire of London and Tom’s Midnight Garden.  Sometimes Beebot had to travel to more than one place in the same go!  The children were great at giving the right code and could self-correct if the direction was wrong.

Year 1 have been using programming to tell the Beebots what to do.
