Y4 Geography

Our Year 3 Work

Biomes

Over the Autumn term, Year 3 have been learning about the many different biomes of the world.  We have used maps to locate a variety of places in the world, learnt about the different climates of areas according to where they are in the world, explored similarities and differences between biomes, and found out about the flora and fauna of each and how they have adapted to suit their environment.

For our homework, we each designed a biome of our choice and researched some facts about it.

Our Y2 Work

A Walk around Hyson Green

On January 23rd, as part of our geography topic, ‘Explorers’, we went for a walk around our local area.  The children had already looked at local maps on the computer and in atlases and had planned their journeys from home to school.  We went out to look at facilities and the uses of buildings in Hyson Green and then thought of ways that it could be improved.

Our Year 1 Work...

Rainforest Animals

On Monday 25th April, Year 1 and 2 had a visit from the rainforest! A ranger brought in a range of rainforest animals to kick-start our geography topic. We were very lucky to be able to find out lots about the animals and even hold them.

‘It was so great to get to hold the bearded dragon for a long time.’ - Summer

‘I was really brave because I held and touched all of the animals.’ - Sarah B

‘There were lots of the animals in the rainforest camouflage.’ - Theo

Our Local Area

On Tuesday 19th April, Year 1 took a walk around the local area to see what facilities Hyson Green offered.

As we walked around, we looked out for shops, trams and all the facilities that help us in our town.

‘I saw lots of cars and trams around Hyson Green.’ - Noah

‘The speed bumps are there to slow cars down so it is safe.’ - Kitty

‘I don’t think that the rainforest would have any of these things.’ - Mikolaj
