Y4 Maths
Our Y3 Work
Counting Money and Solving Problems
We used coins to help us to count and solve problems involving money.
Fractions
We have been exploring unit and non-unit fractions and finding fractions of amounts. We used coloured cubes to help us find the different fractions.
Multiplication and Division
Moving on to multiplying 2 digit numbers, the Dienes apparatus and mats helped us to see how this works. It was made much easier being able to move the apparatus around.
Measuring Length
We had fun outside measuring different objects and comparing units of measurement.
Multiplication and Division
During the second part of the Autumn term, Y3 have been working on multiplication and division. We used cubes to explore sharing into groups of 3, 4 and 8 and then grouping into 3’s, 4’s and 8’s. We discussed how they were similar and different and wrote number sentences to represent them.
Using Place Value Counters
In Year 3, we have been using Place Value counters and mats to help us understand the value of each digit in 3 digit numbers. We have worked in pairs, taking it in turns to make the number with counters, whilst our partner writes down the number we have made.
Our Y2 Work
Place Value, Addition and Subtraction
We have been having fun using the Dienes rods to help us with our work on place value, addition and subtraction. The children used the rods initially, but were then able to draw the rods in their books without using the concrete objects themselves.
Our Year 1 Work...
In numeracy, we have been learning about our numbers and shapes in lots of fun and engaging ways.
