Year 5 Art
Recently in Year 5, we have been doing lots of sketching in art. Our focus has been to look at proportionality of the body and features on a face. We think they are beginning to look very realistic!
Mrs Partow delivered an art session for us, based on our Mayan topic, where we made a variety of fans and head dresses. We used lots of different materials to add colour and detail to make them elaborate. They have made a fabulous display in our classroom along with our homework projects.
In the first week of term, we shared a story by Michael Morpurgo called Running Wild. We created a piece of artwork based on the event that took place in the book. Using oil pastels or watercolours, we produced our interpretation of a tsunami.
Our Y4 Work
In English we wrote about a house with a personality. We spent some time looking at the buildings around school and what personality we think they would have if they were alive. We spent time sketching the houses thinking carefully about which sized pencil to use, shadows and shading to create a 3D effect.
In history this term, Year 4 has been learning about the Romans and how they invaded Britain. As part of this topic, we have learnt about mosaics and how the Romans designed and created beautiful pieces to display in their large villas. The children had the opportunity to design and create their own mosaic as part of our design and technology project.
Our Year 3 Work...
Linking to our science topic about Rocks, Fossils and Soils and our geography work about Biomes, we are designing and making decorative clay tiles.
