Y5 Computing

Computing

We are currently creating interactive books on the iPad, using the ‘e book creator’ app.  Look out for examples of the finished products later in the year!

Our Y3 Work

Using Probots

Before programming the Probots, we worked in pairs giving our partners directions as if they were robots. We used the key language of forward, back, right, left and turn 90 degrees. After that we moved on to smaller angles of 45, 30 and 60 degrees.

This prepared us to write short programmes to input into the Probots. Using a pencil in the Probot to draw our planned route, we were able to check our programme, edit and correct it.

Our Year 2 Work...

Beebots

Year 2 has been busy programming Beebots to navigate around the dangerous ‘Pirate Island’.

Once the children had explored some different routes, they were challenged with the task of retrieving a map and spade in order to dig up the buried treasure!

There were many perils to avoid, such as quicksand and the fire breathing dragon.

The children were able to debug their programs until they were happy with their route to the treasure.
