Our Y5 Work

Notts County-Football in the Community

This term, Years 5 have been very fortunate to have had Notts County Football Club visiting every Tuesday afternoon. They have been learning to play competitive sports like football, handball and hockey, which they have really enjoyed.

Each week they also have a classroom based lesson, where they have explored areas linked with wellbeing such as pride, self-esteem and how to deal with different emotions.

Climbing Wall

On Wednesday 13th June 2018 we were fortunate enough to experience a taster session at the Nottingham Climbing Centre.  We spent the afternoon harnessed up and scrambling up some challenging walls!

The whole class were brave and everyone pushed themselves to have a go even if they weren’t feeling very confident.
We all had lots of fun and some of us got to showcase our skills on the harness-free wall!  I’m sure Spiderman would be proud of their efforts!

Here are some photographs of us in action!

Dance

This half term we have been working with Miss Bee to create our own street dance.  We have been learning how to move our bodies to pop, wave and gesture.
Here are a couple of quotes from the children:
“I love dance because I learn new moves, get to have fun and work with a partner to create a routine.” Mary

“I like dance because it’s creative.” Chino

Hockey and basketball have been the focus of our PE lessons this autumn term.  We have learnt how to control and pass a ball using a field hockey stick, and dribbling, passing and shooting skills in basketball.

Our Year 3 Work...

Health Weeks

We celebrated two weeks in June, thinking about health throughout the school.  Many different activities were involved.  We made and drank smoothies, made and ate a rainbow of different coloured fruits, took part in a sports afternoon in the hall and Sports Day on the field.  We also enjoyed the family picnic and games to complete our celebrations on Friday June 26th.

SSerts Activity

Tuesday June 16th 2015

On Tuesday June 16th, the children were given the following challenge:

It is your job to design somewhere for the Sserts to stay where they can relax.  You will need to think about what it will look like, feel like and sound like.

When you have finished the challenge, you should have:

•    drawn a picture or made a model of the place for the Sserts to live;

•    explained why you have designed it that way.

You have 30 minutes to complete the challenge.

When you have finished, one person should stay with your work to answer any questions while the others go to look at the work of the other groups.
