Other Support Services

Nottingham Disabled Children’s Team carry out assessments of children and young people between 0-19 years who have a permanent and substantial disability, whose welfare, health or development are likely to be impaired without the provision of specialist short breaks, support services, adaptations or equipment.  The Disabled Children’s Team is an integrated service which includes Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Family Support Workers with specialist knowledge in the area of childhood disability.

Children’s Centres provide a service to families with children aged from birth to five years and their siblings.  Children’s Centres provide a link to child care, parent support and a range of parent and toddler activities.  Family support teams work with children from birth to nineteen and their families.  Play and youth activities are available across the City.  Contact your local Children’s Centre for more information.

The Child Development Centre at the City Hospital provides a range of support services for children with developmental impairments or disabilities and their families.  They have a library/information service which provides resources for families about disabling conditions, education, play and leisure activities, money matters, support groups and many other issues.  Books leaflets and DVD’s are available for loan.
