Our School

St Mary’s is a one form entry primary school with approximately 210 pupils on roll (F2 – Y6).  We also have a Nursery (F1) that accommodates both full-time and part-time children.

The school became part of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi Academy Trust, part of the Diocese of Nottingham, in September 2018. It was previously part of the St Barnabus Trust, the predecessor academy trust to the Our Lady of Lourdes CMAT, since 2012.

St. Mary’s Catholic Academy serves a community where pupils may be experiencing family income deprivation.  This is likely to be higher than average for children in Nottingham and certainly higher than the national average.  Despite this, the opportunities and experiences we offer our children are exciting and aspirational.  Funding is used wisely to ensure accessibility to extra-curricular activities is high.  Where there is a desire, we are aspirational in what our children strive to achieve and experience.

We serve the parishes of St Mary’s, Hyson Green and St Paul’s, Lenton.  We have very close links with our parish community. A significant number of our children are Catholic and the remaining are from other faith backgrounds including other Christian denominations and two other-faith families.

A rich and diverse community is a highlight of St Mary’s school.  The percentage of children with English as an additional language is approaching 50% compared to 21.2% Nationally. Our mobility is stable which enables our EAL children to make exceptional progress during their time at St Mary’s. Our community is enriched by the diversity we have.
